Information on replacing
your roof
The cost of your new roof • Prices vary according to size, decking board replacement
and any other additional factors such as lead work or joist
strengthening.
Length of time • This will depend on factors such as size, complexity
of replacement and weather conditions. • Replacement of
decking and the first layer of the roof finish will need to
be completed in dry weather, however subsequent layers can
be completed in between showers. • As a guide, a single garage with board replacement
will take approximately one to two days (weather permitting).
What is involved? • The existing roof covering (not joists) is removed
and if boards are being replaced, they are also stripped.
(New roofs may require new joists). • Boards (if required) are then replaced using OSB3
BBA approved sterling board. • Your choice of roof covering is then
laid.
• Any additional work is also carried out at this time
(e.g. lead flashing or uPVC guttering) • All debris is removed from
the property – a skip
may be required for larger roofs.
Preparation • As a general guide no specific preparation is required
but if new decking is needed, in a garage for example where
there is no ceiling, then items of value should either be removed
or covered with suitable protection. • Cover electrical items with sheeting to protect from
dust. • CFR Flat Roofing will need access to an electricity
power point and to a water supply.
